GERUND
A Gerund is a noun made out of a verb
Gerund function as nouns
Pattern : VERB 1 + -ing
1. As a subject.
Examples : Swiming is good for your health.
Playing football is my hobby.
2. As an object.
Examples : The children enjoy watching TV.
I like studying English
3. After certain verbs.
There are some verbs followed by the gerund only.
consider practice finish stop postpone keep
escape admit quit prevent imagine understand
enjoy mind keep deny suggest delay
Examples : My father quits smoking a year ago.
Diana practices dancing.
- Gerund can follow a preposition.
Examples: i'm interested in traveling to Bali.
i'm looking forward to seeing you soon.
- The verb"go"can be followed by gerund.
Examples: I go hiking once a month.
She went sailing with her parents.
